This is the second FT-60R radio I have owned. The first one I purchased after earning my ham licence in 2005. The FT-60 lasted 11 years being used as my mobile radio with a speaker mic. and trunk mount dual band antenna. It was used almost every day with great signal reports. I purchased a mobile dual band radio when I bought my new car 7 years ago but just did not see the need to replace the FT-60R. The radio is weather resistant well built having sat in the cup holder of my car all this time taking all the bumps and weather extremes. The old radio still looks like new. If you are looking for a solid dual band hand held without all the extras: Digital, GPS, APRS this is the radio to buy.

I had one of these radios before, and sold it to a friend to get him a better rig than he had before. I know I'd get another, and I've had excellent luck with MTC on other radio purchases. I'll keep using your business!

After two years of only owning the infamous Baofeng UV-5r for a HT I decided to celebrate getting my Extra class ticket with an upgrade. I haven't done extensive operating with it yet but so far in my initial testing I have been very impressed. For example just turning it on in my home shortly after receiving it to walk through using the different functions while reading the instruction manual I already started picking up stations. That's pretty darn good for being inside a building with a stock antenna! Also speaking of those functions, wow! Now I see why everyone is so critical of how hard it is to use the Baofeng, the FT-60 has nearly everything you could ever want to adjust as a function right off the keypad, I also love the adjustable squelch dial on the top. MTC service was outstanding, I couldn't believe how fast the radio got to me! My only complaint about this purchase is that I didn't do it sooner!
