Needed another HT for Search & Rescue that has 2.5 Khz step. This model fits the bill just fine with best price versus performance of radio.

Radios still work just as advertised. No problems with them.
Previous review I said "short ranged", that was with the one inch Mini Duck antenna, 3db attenuator attached and set to Low power, to intentionally shorten the range, to eliminate interference. Sometimes we want to talk and hear distant stations, sometimes we don't want to be heard or hear others.
With the supplied antennas we get 1 to 2 miles through the hardwoods and across fields.
One channel programmed to hear the Dakota Alert, driveway alarm when around the house. Overall still impressed with the radios.

Radios do everything as advertised. No problems with the radios. They seem to be pretty tough.
We used these at a NASCAR race, with headsets, on MURS frequencies, low power. I mounted one inch stubby antennas, on 3db attenuators. The signal is very short ranged transmitting and receiving. We did not have any interference and was able to talk within our group just fine without being wired together with an intercom system. Listened to scanners plugged into the headset mostly, the radio over rides the scanner. Almost all the race teams and published track frequencies are on UHF so we used VHF.
I also use them with the headset when mowing, listen to music on the FM radio and have 2 way capability also.
So far I'm impressed with all the capabilities of the radio. Audio sounds clear and range is as expected.

I only gave this radio 4 stars because of a few minor problems. When radio is in scan and back light is turned on (#23) the light stays on all the time. No way to skip memory channels. The programming software will not save the data when your done. Reopening the data file you get "file not compatible". Radio has a good feel to it and the speaker volume is very loud.

A while back a series of unfortunate circumstances led to this radio getting sprayed with the jet setting on a water hose for quite some time. At first I thought it had killed it but after a week in rice it is working fine. besides that it has withstood a few drops quite well. Operation is fine and reliable and the battery life is pretty long... will last a couple of days of moderate use.

Nice little package with lots of features for the money. Programming via the keypad is a little difficult, but can be done. The various software programs make this a breeze! The drivers for the USB programming cable are finicky, but I did have success with Windows XP. Still working on Windows 7.
The radio overall has excellent transmit audio, and the receive sensitivity is very good, and I can hear repeaters at my home that barely make it on my TM-V7A.All in all a great radio for the price, no shipping charges from this vendor, and sent via USPS; got it in 3 days!

I use this radio as a part of a railroad track maintenance crew. It works great -- especially for communicating between members of my crew on one channel and members of the train's operating crew on another channel. Range is good. Reception is good. Battery life is excellent. The radio gets abused in that it's always being bounced around and banged against things yet still works fine. All in all, it is an excellent value for the money.

I've had a KG-UV2D for a couple years now and it has performed brilliantly all that time. It's been dropped on concrete, in the snow and mud and still comes up working fine. I expect no less from my new KG-UV6D V2

This is the second Wouxun handheld that I have purchased. (I had to buy a second because my wife took the first for her use!) I am very happy with the ease of programming and use. They are a whole lot better than Yaesu.
