I purchased the first Radio but it was bad. And had some Manufacturing Issues. So I was sent a second Unit and it Performs really good as far as Transmit and Recieve. The Display is really kind of weak and needs to be more Highlighted on the Readout of the digits display. It was easy to program just like the Yaesu FT8800. I was told that it sounded and did well through the Local Repeaters in my Area. TYT could make some more Improvements but overall it is a good Radio for the Money

TYT does make very good radios at a value driven price, however this model doesn't equal the specs (in many ways)of the Kenwood VM71A (only 35 watts vs 50 watts as with the VM-71A UHF transmitter; much better / user friendly, free programming software with the Kenwood; 25% greater memory channel capacity with Kenwood; Kenwood is declared EchoLink ready; Kenwood furnishes a superior user's manual). However, TYT does build reliable, high quality products well worth the asking price.

The TYT TH 7800 is everybit as good as the Kenwood VM71A tranceiver but beats it in features and greater ease of operation. Having two tuning dials just makes the operation much more intuitive. The price being 1/2 goes a long way as well. The only draw back to the TH-7800 is the old style glass cartridge fuse that they use and the fact that there is no fuse in the (-) line to prevent back feed.

Needed a dual bander with more power. I was surprised by the quality and the functions of the Tyt 7800 radio. It was easy to program using Chirp and functions flawless. I can safely recommend this radio.

Nice compact radio. This small radio mounts very easily and simply most anywhere you like, especially since it has the ability to seperate the control head from the body of the radio. Most of the newer vehicles, while being long on people room are very short on places to mount accessories. Great radio for the price point.

Installed this radio in my 2011 Rubicon. I installed it on the roll bar because the under seat installation worried me with river crossings. I mounted the head on the dash. This place doesn't work, because the illumination is not bright enough to read during day time, even with the power pushed up to 4 (max brightness). Which there was some way in increase the illumination. Every thing else about this radio rates 5 starts.

Fantastic little transceiver! Very complex menus and usages. I have had the radio for about a week and have been working with it daily to try to comprehend the difficulties of operation before installing into my truck. With all that said, I will be buying another for my shack!!!

The radio in general works fine, transmit audio good. The only thing is that you can't separate the vhf/ uhf memory ch's without having both frequencies being memorized on both sides. The price is great

This is the first TYT I've purchased. It has all the features I could want in a good mobile rig and it sounds great. It is a lot like the Yaesu 7800.
