I ordered a Yaesu FT710 from MTC in the midst of their move to the new store location and received it in two days, when actually expecting a week or longer. Unpacked the radio and have been immersed in the manual so I have a good idea of how to use it to replace my FT450D. If you are accustomed to Yaesu HG radios, the manual is pretty easy to understand even with all this new model does. It gets its real test on the air this weekend on SSB and PSK31.

I am an Icom/Flex guy but the 7300 is getting long in the tooth, hope they update the platform soon. I love the FT-710 (own 2 of them) and feel it's the biggest bang for the buck on the market today. This being said, the 710 has it's flaws, the AESS system isn't miraculous and the function button layout could be better. In conclusion, the 710 has a fantastic receiver and the DNF is amazing for weak signals. Great radio for shack or in the field, I wouldn't spend the extra money for the AESS version. 73

I have owned most of the newer radio's out between the big three, yes the 7300,7610, FTDX10&101D and going back past 10 to 15 years the K3, FTDX3000 and the TS590s but this small footprint HF radio is fantastic plus it does not break the bank. The RX performance best most of the current SDR radio's out there plus the NR & NB works extremely well, yes its that good. To me its the receiver that counts and the display is secondary but today way too many newbies buy there radio's cause of a fancy display but in the ned its the receiver that counts.
