Pulled the trigger on a legal limit solid state amp. I sold my 1.3 back to Richard. I have had the amp about 1.5 weeks. I have it connected to a Flex 6500 and a Yaesu FTDX10. I bought the Cat Cables from Dan which really are a must have. With the cables your drive power and alc are controlled to not overdrive the amplifier. The signal produced is pretty good and doesnt stray much beyond the TX bandwidth and I am being very critical here. Amp is quiet it sits right beside me and I operate SSB and no one can hear the fans. Now that I have gone through and tuned all frequencies and the Cat Cables are connected it is just pick a frequency and transmit. This amp is going to make me lazy but I am not giving up my tube amps! Overall pleased with this large purchase. A printed manual should be included for $7k USD. 73 KC1TQN

After owning the 1K-FA v3 for a number of years with absolutely zero issues, I was attracted to the 100% duty cycle of this amplifier and full output even on digital modes. I don't have an easy way to get 240v to the shack so being able to run 1.5 kW off of my 20A 120v circuit works very well. This is fully integrated with my Icom remote setup and I like the improvement in the GUI to make it look just a little more modern than the pervious version software. If you are not used to using a solid state amplifier, you'll be glad you made the move. We're all used to buying a product that we can get from any of our favorite suppliers on the net but I really feel that SPE did the right thing by purposely limited their distributers to maintain quality from assembly all the way to distribution. The guys at SPE were great to deal with when I had a couple of questions but they are on about a 24 hour delay depending on when you email them because they are in Italy. Quit reading reviews and buy one, you won't be dissapointed.

I did a ton of research on solid state amplifiers before I decided to purchase this SPE 1.5 K-FA Taurus. It is not the cheapest but in my opinion based on my performance, other reviews and chat on the groups.io SPE group, this amplifier is definitely best in class! Took me a bit to wrap my head around the fully automatic operation and initial setup ( I'm coming from tube type amps, latest a 8877.. ) but after everything set up this thing is a monster! It truly creates an automatic 1500 watt radio out of my ICOM IC 7610. I am not using automatic antenna switching currently but that might happen in the future. The protection circuit worked wonderfully the one time I forgot to select the correct antenna. 100% output on digital modes if you want. Lots of headroom available because of the dual LDMOS devices. Lots and lots of positive impressions with this amp so far, nothing negative. And, great service from MTC! Thanks Richard!
