1.25m repeaters are plentiful here and are very active. At least two are built with this TYT 9000D and have had heavy use for years without failure. Most of the local hams use it also, though some have a TM631 or DR235T, but audio reports are consistent for all.
The TYT 9000D 220 is, I believe, the shining star of Asian-built radios. For little more than a C-note it is a bargain. It has a port on the mainboard for installing a DB9 on the back for repeater setup. Once you program a couple of channels the rest are easy. However, I use a cable for speed, and the TYT software is fine.
Those are some of the pros. The few cons are detailed in the other reviews.
From the analyzer:
H=44.2 M=28.2 L=11.4
Sql=.158μV
12dB=.170
All 3 of my rigs are about the same.

Have the original TYT-9000 220 radio and have been satisfied with it. Purchased the 9000D as a spare. Noticed while programming the 9000D that the volume control does not appear to be as responsive as the 9000 unit. Have to turn it about 2 o'clock to get the same volume as the old 9000 turned to 10 o'clock. Audio volume report on transmit was lower than the old rig as well. Haven't used the 9000D for an extended period of time yet, so we'll see.

Radio is working just fine so far. Excellent value considering price & performance. Not 5 stars because manual needs a lot of improvement.
I'm rather excited about just discovering MTC & envision doing business w/you in the future!

First look the radio looks really well made.
The Mic feels a little cheap and hollow. But most new electronic mics do also.
First power up radio performed very well. 46 Watts out on Hi and .14 Microvolts will open the squelch with the squelch setting at 4 in the menu. On air audio reports were good on the local repeater also.
Throw the provided manual in the trash. It is about 50% WRONG. It must have been written for the UHF or the 2 Meter radio with apparently has different firmware.
Download the Free software from the TYT site and get a cable. The Alinco cable works just fine. That's what I have and used.
Likes... The multi color display, 50 watts out, great Rx sensitivity, nice easy to read display (better than the Alinco), good Rx audio, nice and loud and clean.
Dislikes..... Lack of a proper manual, and for some strange reason when you program the radio the display color reverts back to Blue every time. It's easy to change in the menu just an nuisance, Lack of labels on the 5 button on the front display. They are programmable with the software but have no labels except for numbers. No data port (packet etc.)
In all a good 220 MHz radio for the money.
I would buy another.

This is my 2nd TYT9000 220mhz radio. It gets great audio reports and has > than rated power output. Programming is a little picky but once you get the steps down and do what they mean instead of what the say in the manual it really isn't too bad. We only have 2 or 3 repeaters in the area on 220 and a few simplex frequencies so not a problem at all.
Sure I would change a few things but the operating options are amazing on this radio. Would purchase another one of these, especially if the price continues to drop.
