  1. Seems like a good power supply for tor the money. 4 Star Review

Posted by on 31st Jul 2018

The DM-30T seems to work fine. I measured max voltage setting at 14.98 volts and min voltage at 7.92 volts. Preset 13.8 volts actually delivers 13.76 volts. Current metering accurate enough. Voltage regulation seems good. I checked for RF birdies on power leads using Rigol Spectrum Analyzer and seems clean but if there is an interference issue, there is a Noise Offset adjustment, however, probing inside with cover off, the switching frequency was measured at 27.4 kHz. Harmonics are generated a multiples of this frequency but should not radiate outside the box. Interesting, the Noise Offset control didn't change switching frequency until set fully clockwise when it abruptly changed to 33.1 kHz. Said another way, there was no gradual change in switching frequency with Noise Offset adjustment. Like another review, I had to re-configure the position of Anderson Power Pole connectors on front panel to match standard used by "Rig Runner" distribution panels and cabling I use in my shack. Fan noise did not seem objectionable.

Seems like a good light weight, high capacity, power supply for the money but just a little concerned that switching frequency does not change gradually with rotation of Noise Offset adjustment. Is this the way it was designed to operate? With no birdies emanating, however, this should not be an issue.

  3. Excellent bench radio supply 5 Star Review

The features of this power supply are excellent: fixed/variable voltage, noise offset circuit, Anderson PowerPoles on the front (reconfiguring is very easy: remove the front panel holder from the case, remove the roll-pin, remove the powerpoles from the front panel holder, correct the configuration, re-insert the powerpoles into the front panel holder, re-insert the roll-pin, re-insert the front panel holder into the case, & done...I painted over the "+" & "-" indicators, but that's just OCD me !!), & the meter, which to me is one of its absolute best features !! I personally have no problem whatsoever with regard to the fan noise, even at my 20A+ full load operation. I would definitely recommend this power supply to others, especially at the MTC price.
