Was bought as a gift and the person that is using it says it works great, has it up at 75ft and the antenna works better than he expected.
Might buy another soon fo my use.

sturdy, worth the money , had it up in 5 min .
checked the SWR on 2m only and it was 1.2 to 1.7 from 144-148.
I would buy another one. KB2UBO.

I had been using a few different J-pole antennas over the years including a few I had made myself then I found the Blackbird. Although I have not installed it, I did set it up on a temporary mount to check out. It does what it says and is a nice looking antenna. It's simplicity is what attracted me and I am very pleased with it. It will be mounted in the attic of my new home completely out of site. We are at the top of a hill overlooking our valley and I should get great performance from it and keep my neighbors happy since they won't have a clue.

I really like this antenna. I have a Wouxun UV5D handheld, with 50' coax. For the money, it is great. I would have given it 5 stars, but in its price range it is a 5, but it is not the very best of antennas, but I like it. It is easy as pie to get up and working, and it does not need a ground. No SWR, or tuning to get it work. Oh, and MTC sent it quickly, and was wrapped very well, as well the 2 radios I bought.

Using the antenna for an EMCOMM support station at local Sheriff's Hdqtrs. It's mounted on top of a 10' photo mast with tripod, using the enclosed mast mount. Coax is 25' RG-8X. It's easy to deploy and works great on both voice and digital, using a Yaesu 8800. Service from MTC was outstanding, we will be back.

I received the BlueBird antenna just a few days after I ordered it. Was busy with other things and didn't get to try it for three weeks. I have this antenna 50' up on my 80' tower and it works great. I live in Alabama and hit a repeater almost 125 miles away...This is without a doubt the best antenna, including other freqs. that I've purchased. Did I mention...NO assembly!!! Right out of the box...Thanks, guys...

I now have 3 of these and I must say that what they lack in Gain is made up with strudy construction and reliability. If you get them high enough (35 to 40 ft as I did ) they work very well indeed. They will outlast a fibreglass antenna by years and travel well too. 4 stars only because of the lack of gain. MTC is has great service 5 stars for them

First off, the service from MTC was outstanding as usual. No nonsense transaction & shipping was speedy. MTC wins my business again. As for the antenna: It performs flawlessly (as flawless as a J pole can). 1.2-1.3 SWR on 2M & 1.5-1.6 SWR on 440. PLEASE NOTE: If you're looking at this antenna in comparison to the Arrow brand open-stub J pole, the finish of the Arrow products are quite a tad better than the Blackbird. They're both exactly the same antenna, except for the finish. The elements on the Arrow are cut on a lathe. Nice clean machined cuts. The bottom of the elements on the Blackbird are cut with a hacksaw. However, that alone is not a big enough deal to lower the 5 star rating. IMO.
